Evaluations/lessons:
Do I need to bring my junior in for an evaluation?
Only junior players looking to play High School 1 & 2 should come in for an evaluation before signing up for classes (these are typically varsity-level players). This is to ensure we place your junior in the best class setting.
If you have participated in FWTEC classes in the past year, you do not need to come back in to be re-evaluated. Junior players currently in a session should plan on remaining in the same class for the next session unless an FWTEC coach advises them otherwise.
Upcoming Evaluation Dates: (Updated November, 2025)
Our classes are currently full, so we won’t be holding any additional evaluations for the rest of 2025. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please contact Andrea Claassen and stay tuned for future openings.
Can I do private lessons? (Updated November, 2025)
Private lessons are currently full, but we expect to reopen spots in spring 2026.
CHoosing the right class:
Please contact Andrea Claassen with any specific questions regarding class placement, moving to a different age or level, or if you are interested in our Advanced or High-Performance options.
Can my child join a class outside their age group?
Classes are age-based, and players should register within their designated age group. Classes are crafted with a developmentally appropriate curriculum and factor in the social-emotional skills needed at each age group.
My child is turning 13 soon. What should I sign them up for next?
Players who are turning 13 or recently turned 13 should register for 14U for their next session.
How will I know when my High Schooler is ready to move to a different class?
High School players should plan to remain in the same class unless advised otherwise by an FWTEC coach. Because players develop at different rates, it’s common for players to stay in the same class for multiple years. Our coaches are constantly evaluating players and will notify families when a class change is appropriate.
How can my child participate in the High-Performance classes?
The High-Performance classes are by invitation only. The expectations for the High-Performance classes are a varsity-level player who attends at least two sessions a week, participates in USTA tournaments, and plays tennis year-round. Learn more about High Performance classes here.
How can my child move up to High School 1 classes?
High School players should plan to remain in the same class unless advised otherwise by an FWTEC coach. Our coaches are constantly evaluating players and will notify families when a class change is appropriate.
Cancellation & Refund Policy:
Are there any makeups or refunds if I miss a class or if I’m sick the day of class?
Unfortunately, FWTEC will not provide make-up classes or account credit for individual dates missed during a program session (i.e., a player misses a class due to an illness, school, or family event).
If my child can’t make the first two weeks of class, can we get the session pro-rated?
No, but you can wait until the session has started, and if spaces are still available, you can get the prorated rate. Often, our classes fill up within the first week of registration during the indoor season.
What is your cancelation policy if you need to withdraw your child from a session?
If the player withdraws more than a week before the session starts, you get a full refund. If your child is injured halfway through the session, you will get a partial refund.

If you get a family membership, adults can register for adult drills one week before the class, while non-patrons can only register 48 hours beforehand. Members don’t have to pay a $5 guest fee for private lessons orcourt time. Learn more about patron membership benefits here.
