Meredith Lawrence works part-time at the The Fort’s front desk. She credits her skills as a tennis player to the coaches and staff at The Fort. Lawrence learned how to play tennis through group lessons at The Fort starting in 2004. Under the tutelage of Clay Sollenberger and other coaches, she made four trips to the state tennis tournament – once as a singles player and three times as a part of a doubles team, winning fourth place her junior year. Lawrence currently attends Augustana College in Sioux Falls majoring in business administration. She also plays tennis for the Vikings.

Favorite tennis moment: Winning the section tennis singles title as a freshman

Favorite player: Roger Federer

What makes an exceptional player: Someone who works hard, truly wants to get better, and devotes time to least favorite strokes

When I’m losing, I focus on: What I’m good at, and how I can use my strengths to get back into the match

When I’m winning, I focus on: What I’m doing well, and what my opponent is struggling with so I can keep taking advantage of that player’s weaknesses

Favorite food: Tacos

Favorite movie: A Walk to Remember

People would be surprised that I: I have horses and used to ride competitively. I was the junior princess of my saddle club when I was younger.

Items on my bucket list: Go to Hawaii again, attend an NBA championship game and purchase a Ford 150 truck

When I’m not at The Fort: I enjoy playing basketball, hanging out with friends and family, watching Netflix and driving my dad’s Camaro
