Registration Process

How can I sign up for classes, teams, leagues, camp, etc? 
We offer online registration for our patrons through Club Automation. If you need help setting up an account, you can use our step-by-step registration guide

NOTE: You must PURCHASE a patron membership before you can register for classes, leagues, camps and teams through Club Automation. If you've created an account but can't view any activities, it's probably because you haven't purchased a membership yet. Click the "Buy a Membership" link on the left-hand side of the page and add a payment method.

How can I sign up for adult drills? 
Stop by The Fort or give us a call at 612.252.8367 to reserve your spot. 

How can I view open court times and reserve courts? 
You can view open court times online via Club Automation if you've purchased a membership; you can reserve courts in person or over the phone at 612.252.8367. Non-patrons cannot view open courts online; call us at 612.252.8367 to inquire about court times and make a reservation. 

I've created a new account and logged into Club Automation. Why can't I sign up for activities? 
If you've created a new account but you're getting an error message when you try to view and register for classes or leagues, it's most likely because you haven't yet purchased a patron membership. Click on "Buy a Membership" on the left-hand navigation panel and complete the purchase to gain access to classes, leagues, teams, camp, etc.

I'm trying to register for a class online, but it says I haven't been approved for this activity. Why can't I sign up? 
This error message means one of two things. a) You have not yet purchased a patron membership, which you must do before you can sign up for any classes, leagues, camps or teams. Click on the "Buy a Membership" link on the left-hand navigation panel and complete the checkout process to sign up. b) You are attempting to enter a class that requires instructor approval, like our Futures 1, Academy 3 and Academy 2 classes. If this is the case, contact Tennis Director Marc Stingley at 612.252.8367 ext. 113 or at marc@fwtec.org.

I'm trying to register for a class online and it keeps saying "Please Call." Why? 
If Club Automation tells you "Please Call", it means the class you are registering for is full. If you continue with registration after that, you will be added to the waiting list in the order in which you registered, and we will contact you if you get into the class. Give us a call at 612.252.8367 with questions. 

I'm trying to register over the phone, but there's nobody picking up at The Fort. What should I do? 
We try to keep staff behind the front desk as often as we can, but sometimes we're not around to pick up the phone. If that's the case, leave us a message with your name, number and a good time to call you back--and if you're trying to reserve a court, let us know the date and time you'd like, if you know it. We try to return messages within 24 hours and honor reservations in the order in which they were received.

How can I sign up for a TennisWorks program? 
Since most of our TennisWorks students participate through our direct partnerships with schools, we don't offer online registration for TW programs. If you're interested in participating or volunteering for a TW program, you can contact Kelley Nelson at kelley@fwtec.org.

I want to sign up for classes or camp, but I'm going to miss multiple days. Do you offer discounts? 
We consider pro-rating class sessions or weeks of summer camp on a case-by-case basis. Give us a call at 612.252.8367. 

When do I get billed for monthly charges? 
We recently updated our billing policy to require that patrons keep a card on their Club Auto account. You will be automatically billed on the 1st and 15th of each month; statements will go out on the 12th and 28th (three days prior to billing). 

 

Playing at The Fort

Can I play at The Fort if I'm not a patron? 

Non-patrons can play at The Fort for an extra fee. Non-patrons can reserve courts up to 24 hours in advance for the same rates as patrons, plus a $5 guest fee. Non-patrons can register for drills for the same rates as patrons, plus a $5 guest fee. Participants in USTA matches at The Fort who are not members will pay $2 more than patrons.

Non-patrons must pay at the time of sign-up for court reservations or drills. We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for courts and drills. 

If you want to register for in-house leagues, women's day league, junior classes or summer camp, you must become a patron. 

I'm a new player. How do I know what class or drill to sign up for? 
Many of our junior classes are age-based, but you can email Junior Tennis Director Clay Sollenberger at clay@fwtec.org to determine which class is right for you. In your email, include a detailed background (age/grade, tennis background, school, etc.). Our adult drills and leagues use the National Tennis Rating Program scale. I'm signed up for a junior class. What should I bring with me to The Fort? 
Please bring a racquet, a water bottle and non-marking shoes to every class. 

I can't afford the full fee for an entire session of classes. Do you offer scholarships? 
True to our mission of making tennis accessible to everyone, we offer scholarships to junior players who qualify. To review eligibility requirements and the application process, see our scholarships page.

I prefer one-on-one coaching. Do you offer private lessons? 
Many of our tennis pros offer private tennis lessons, either one-on-one or in small groups. To inquire, contact Tennis Director Robin Coverdale at robin@fwtec.org. 

I'm signed up for a league, but I can't make it to a match. Can I have a friend sub for me? 
Patrons can sub for each other in our in-house leagues. You don't have to worry about registering the third player--just have them pay your team for the time they play. If they're not a patron, they'll need to pay a guest fee. 

It's negative (or positive) one million degrees outside. Is my class still on? 
We make weather-related decision about classes at least an hour before class time. You can check our class cancellations page or follow us on Facebook for current updates, or call us at 612.252.8367. During the indoor season, it's rare that we cancel classes--but it still happens, so be sure to check in. 

 

Other 

How do I unsubscribe from Club Auto emails? They are super annoying. 
To unsubscribe from emails, click the link at the bottom of the email and follow directly to the email notifications page. From there, you should deselect all (or any) email communications you wish not to receive. Otherwise, you can go directly from your Club Automation account. On the left hand side, there is a “Notifications” button, click there. There is a blue “Edit” button that you should click and then be able to select or deselect any communications you wish to receive. ***BUT BE AWARE: deselecting General Club Communications may prevent important class or general club cancellations and statement notifications from reaching your inbox.***

Why are you asking us for donations? Don't you make money from your fee-based programs? 
We operate as a 501(c)3 nonprofit. That means that while our fee-based programs do support our nonprofit work (mainly, our Tennis2College program), we rely heavily on the generous support of individuals and foundations to sustain that work from year to year.  You can make a donation by clicking here
