High Performance Tennis Instructor
Chi Pham began working with high performance players at The Fort in 2011. Prior to joining the staff here, he spent five years with the Gopher Tennis Academy coaching over 10 players ranked in the USTA/National Top 40.
As a junior tennis player, Pham was consistently ranked #1 in the USTA Northern Section and achieved a career high of #18 in the nation. He played the #1 Singles Position at the Blake School starting in eighth grade, winning three State Championships along the way.
After high school, Pham played his college-ball as a Golden Gopher at the University of Minnesota, leading the team to a Top 15 ITA National Ranking (the second highest in the University’s history).
Favorite tennis moment: Being the last (and deciding) match on the court in the semifinals of the Big Ten Championships. Despite losing an almost five hour contest, it was an amazing feeling to be surrounded by my teammates and all the fans!
Favorite tennis player: Fernando Verdasco
What makes an exceptional tennis player: Dedication and being a true student of the game who puts in grueling hours on and off the court and fights for every point in a match.
When I’m losing, I focus on: Fighting harder and figuring out ways to make life more difficult for my opponent.
When I’m winning, I focus on: Remaining focused, executing my game plan and looking for weaknesses in my opponent’s game to further expose.
Favorite food: Noodles…any noodles.
Favorite movie: Top Gun
People would be surprised that Hit my driver +350 yards.
Items on my bucket list: Go to Wimbledon, skydive and go on an African Safari
Best advice ever received: Put in all the work you can now, so that you don’t regret not having done so when you lose.
When I’m not at The Fort: I enjoy real estate and real estate investing.
