Friends and Family of The Fort,

As you know, The Fort is a special kind of tennis center. Our dedication to making tennis more accessible to everyone in the Twin Cities—especially youth from under-resourced communities—continues to set us apart both locally and nationally. As a team, we remain dedicated to bringing Fred’s vision to life on a daily basis, and we’re grateful for your lasting partnership in this important work.

I am writing to introduce myself and to share some changes at The Fort. Executive Director Lea Favor recently resigned her position and I have stepped in as interim executive director until a new executive director is named, probably in early July. I was part of the executive search team that identified Lea in the spring of 2013 and helped the board of directors develop the Fort’s current strategic plan in 2014.  I consider myself a real friend of The Fort.

Lea made a visible impact across the organization. We are incredibly grateful for the direction she provided to both the education and tennis programs during her tenure here. She will be greatly missed by many.

Given this leadership transition, we will host the 2016 Wells Cup on Saturday, April 30rather than on March 5. We apologize to everyone who had planned on attending or playing this weekend and will issue refunds for tickets purchased for those who cannot attend on the April date. Your participation as a player or a spectator will still help support TennisWorks, our outreach program dedicated to developing lifelong tennis players and global citizens. You now have more time to purchase tickets online at wellscup2016.splashthat.com. Thank you for understanding our need to reschedule.

If you have a chance, please stop by to introduce yourself or bring me your questions or suggestions. I am available at 612.252.8367 ext. 101

Warmly,

Linda Tacke
