Dear Friends,

The beginning of a new year is a natural time to pause and set goals for the months ahead. As you may know, 2013 was a year of transition for The Fort at the leadership, staff and board levels. But with any change comes opportunity - the opportunity to re-invigorate, refresh and re-energize our work together to further our mission. This new vibe has been infectious and there is a vibrant buzz around The Fort no matter the program you participate in or which day you stop by.

We welcomed new staff and board members, and we increased the number of players and students in our junior and adult tennis programs. Our Tennis2College program is positioned to have a stellar year and we anticipate working with over 300 young people on the courts and in the classroom to provide tennis and education activities that support their academic achievement and character development.

Our future is bright and I am appreciative of everyone who so warmly welcomed me into The Fort Family. I am humbled and grateful that many of you supported our work with your generous contributions or by volunteering in our programs.  Thank you for believing in us!

As we embark on a strategic planning process this spring to grow The Fort to greatness, I want to include your suggestions in this process.  To that end, over the coming months I will be reaching out to you (via surveys or phone calls) to learn more about what you think we are doing well and to hear your suggestions for how we can improve. It is important to me to hold the space so that your voices are an integral part of establishing our goals for the future. In the interim, please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts with me via email, over the phone or on the courts.

Here’s to a wonderful 2014 together!
Gratefully,

Lea
