Here at The Fort, an identity crisis is nowhere to be found. If you've played, donated or volunteered at Fred Wells Tennis & Education Center, then you know how Fred Wells and his tennis and education ideals are still very present here every day. In fact, we're taking Fred's vision one step further with TennisWorks. This year, we launched TennisWorks as our flagship program specifically targeted for middle school students of color from under-resourced communities. TennisWorks is a unique youth development initiative for students in the Twin Cities that merges tennis and innovative academic teaching methods to spark students' athletic, civic and academic performance. Fred is everyone in The Fort community whose support makes these tennis and education programs for youth and adults possible, programs like our new TennisWorks. I am Fred; you are Fred. We are STILL Fred!
Our annual ProAm is a showcase doubles tournament featuring some of the best professional and amateur tennis players in the Twin Cities. This year, our ProAm will be on Saturday, November 14 from 5:30-9:30 p.m., with tournament play starting at 6:30 p.m. Each doubles team has one 'Pro' and one 'Am', and teams will compete for the title and the ProAm Trophy. To add to the fun for spectators, teams go up for auction before the play begins--meaning you'll have the chance to put benefit money on your predicted winner. The ProAm is a great way to celebrate the fantastic tennis talent we have at all levels in the Twin Cities while having a good time AND supporting a good cause. This year, your funds directly support our new flagship program targeted to middle school players: TennisWorks!
We're calling all Freds to our 2015 ProAm in support of The Fort to kick off our fall fundraising campaign. #WeAreFred (still)
