Ursula Shute Named
Advancement Manager

Fred Wells Tennis & Education Center (The Fort) Executive Director Esther Tsai announced the hiring of Ursula Shute as The Fort’s new Advancement Manager.

Formerly titled the Development & Communications Manager, Shute’s role as Advancement Manager will work directly with the Development Committee and staff to raise support for our TennisWorks program which provides tennis and life skills education at no cost to under-resourced youth. Shute will also work closely with The Fort team to deliver timely and relevant marketing and communications to The Fort’s current and potential patron partners. Shute began her new position on February 20.

“I am so excited to join The Fort family and help advance our mission of bringing people together of all ages, abilities and backgrounds through the life-long sport of tennis. I am honored to represent such an important and influential organization within our tennis community.”

Shute comes to The Fort with an extensive sales and entrepreneurial background. After getting her start in the tennis industry at the USTA Northern as Adult League Coordinator in 2006, she moved on in 2008, and for the next 10 years serviced tennis retailers and facilities as a manufacturer’s representative for global racquet brands, Prince and Head Penn. In 2016, she followed her entrepreneurial spirit and became an operating partner in a neighborhood cafe of which recently sold, allowing her to follow her heart back to the tennis community.

Shute has developed strong relationships in the local and regional tennis communities of which she hopes will be an asset to the future sustainability of The Fort’s growing programs.
